Conference Template

This flexible conference template is designed to make conference planning easy.  It was developed in an attempt to prevent planning committees from having to repetitively reinvent the wheel.  Conference session type, order, and length are based on our past experience with the format that most effectively creates a positive environment for attendees.  Most of the difficult decision-making required by planning committees is complete once this template is filled in.

Experience has taught us that the most successful conference planners keep the old adage “less is more” squarely in mind.  Many planning committees have several quality content ideas; some find it difficult to decide which ideas to cut. We have found, however, that social breaks and the Story Sharing meetings are the most important aspects of Mormon Stories conferences.  Conference planners should therefore do everything they can to avoid over-planning.  Breakouts and panels can be added, but to do so other content must be removed and/or the number of hours set aside for the conference must be increased.  Click here for more information about different types of conference sessions.

Lead conference planners should copy/paste this template into their Facebook planning groups (as a document) before the first con call is held.  (Please see the Conference Planning Process Doc for information about con calls.)  All planning committee members should feel free to edit the doc in their Facebook planning group whenever new information becomes available.
