  1. In modern Mormon theology, there is really no room for mercy. Justice must always be satisfied. Which is why we have heard so many talks trying to contort the concept of forgiveness and atonement. They will use all sorts of metaphors to explain how, one way or another, you gotta pay the piper (e.g. the Savior paid the price for your sins, but now he is the mortgage holder, to whom you must still pay the utmost farthing).

    This absence of mercy must be one of the main reasons for the parenting approach taken by Jodi and so many other mormon parents. Accountability must be taught and experienced by children. Kids must fully experience the “consequences” of their actions (i.e. kids must miss lunch, be kicked out of their bedrooms, etc etc).

    Disgusting.
