8 Passengers Mormon Therapist Jodi Hildebrandt Destroyed My Life – Adam Paul Steed | Ep. 1809

Download MP3

Adam Paul Steed, raised Mormon, was abused as an LDS Boy Scout in Idaho. He became a nationally known whistleblower when he turned in a dangerous predator, and teamed with his father to successfully change the Idaho sexual abuse statue of limitations laws. Later, Adam moved to Utah with his new wife to attend Brigham Young University. Soon thereafter tragedy stuck when he fell into the crosshairs of Mormon therapist Jodi Hildebrandt – at the recommendation of his Mormon bishop. Among other violations, Jodi Hildebrandt sought to paint Adam as an abuser (with no evidence), and violated Adam’s client confidentiality by reporting him to the BYU Honor Code office, which led to the suspension of her therapist license around 2012.

Adam believes it possible that Jodi Hildebrandt’s efforts to smear his reputation were possibly motivated by a desire to retaliate against him for his whistleblowing as a Boy Scout.

One important question we ask today – why was Elder Harold G. Hillam (Presidency of the LDS Quorum of the 70, and the President of the very same camp where Adam had been abused) deeply involved in Jodi Hildebrandt’s attacks on Adam.

This is Adam’s story.

  1. I just want to point out that I’m a practicing member of the Satanic Temple. My wife and I have been married for 20 years last month. We have two boys and have NEVER practiced corporal punishment. My kids are smart, happy and well adjusted.

  2. This story has to get out! So much culpability for the LDS church, bishops, BYU. THIS GUY HAS BEEN ROYALLY SCREWED OVER AND OVER!!! It’s never to late to right the wrongs-come on offenders-do the right thing!

  3. I’m still 45 minutes away from finishing this episode but I want to let Adam know that I’m sorry he and his families have been hurt so much.

It’s infuriating that the LDS church will spend its tithing money in court and in state legislatures going to bat to protect the real child-rapists and abusers hundreds of times, then turn around and use all kinds of money and influence to demonize and falsely accuse the victims of that same abuse. Mormon Stories and others have shown time and again that the LDS church went out of its way to prevent abusers from facing any consequences. Now we see how low they’ll sink to ruin child rape survivors and cast them as the predators.

The depth and breadth of their harassment, defamation, and actual criminal campaign against the Steeds (including their retaliation against Paul and Deborah) is remarkable.

I’m not a lawyer but it seems I’ve counted stalking, witness tampering, defamation, filing false charges, entrapment, perjury, and child abuse that is all being perpetrated by members and leaders of the church and BYU just to make sure Adam wasn’t able to live a happy, normal, productive life. That’s besides Jodi’s ethical breaches, as well as those of all her well-connected associates she roped into these lifelong torture campaigns.

They’ve stolen so many opportunities from him after he was already victimized by their attempt to cover up a pedophile ring. This goes beyond vindictive, this is monstrous. Nobody anywhere should have to endure this.

Adam, you’re a fantastic human being for trying to protect other people from these horrors by standing up and sharing your pain. No matter how they lie to you or try to gaslight others, we know you’re a worthy human being and that the world is a better place with you in it.

  4. John youre awesome for giving this man a platform to tell the world the truth about jodi and the church
Again you are a warrior for truth
He had so much vital information to share– more than could be shared in even one long interview

. It sounds like we missed allot of important information
I had so many questions that were not explored –such as more time on BSA
BYU the legal system and the church leaders and policy

I also had more questions on what jodi and his ex wife said and did

I was al very interested in what Adams father went through and how he helped adam

Could you have adams father and mother in to interview??

My only suggestion is that you would have divided this into more interviews

It could have easily been 4-6 2 hour interviews or more

Perhaps you could have adam back as jodies legal battle takes place

    Adam thanks for your courage
    John thanks for your courage

  5. Yeah good luck with 50/50 legal custody when you have a vindictive ex wife who has substanially more than 50% physical custody. 50/50 legal custody doesn’t mean a thing when you don’t have physical access to your kids.

Legal custody means decision making rights.

How can you be involved in decision making when you never see your kids? Do you think that vindictive ex is going to call you on the phone for input about the kids’ education, doctors, medication, health insurance, etc?

Highly unlikely. You will be left out in the cold.

  6. When you think about the extent the church goes to to protect child molesters, and their CIA level intelligence it uses to spy on and control it’s members. But notoriously uses its money and power to protect predators while simultaneously seeking to destroy the lives and credibility of their victims. Makes me think the churches involvement in child abuse and even ritual abuse is more calculated and sinister than them simply trying to protect their reputation or their money.
Think of how much money and legal resources they spend on making sure victims of SA are unable to seek justice and offered no protection while their abusers are free to abuse others while under the full protection of the churches legal team. Its like sexual abuse is something that the church is supporting in some way. Which means it must benefit them somehow.

Couple this with the large amount of ritual abuse allegations and the sexual abuse involved in any of those mind control experiments that go along with it. Could it be just a coincidence what the church spends its money on to protect? A church that is 100% about control and strict obedience of its members. A church that uses shame to maintain that control and to make its money by selling salvation. A church with a long history of unethical and immoral practices and the groups of people they have employed to protect their ability to get away with them.

Is it any wonder how easily they were able to destroy this mans life? But why, when we all know they are pro keeping children in abusive situations. The high level officials that were involved in this whole situation from the beginning as well as those who were placed in them as he was looking for a wife. Its obvious to me and also from my own personal experiences, that the church involvement goes much deeper. It must to match the extreme measures they take to hide their involvement. Just like that one Lawyer said who was trying to help victims in UT. It won’t happen in his lifetime due to the churches complete control over the government and society in general. The secret combinations they use to protect pedophiles is not because they are not aware or follow a theology of Christs atonement. They are fully aware of everything that goes on and use every unchristlike means to protect their investments and their reputation. I have no doubt if Christ were to return today they would crucify him again before they would give up their false claim of power, and athourity. By giving it back to God where it belongs. What would Christ do with all their money and temples? How fast would their whole hierarchy of power crumble? How stupid their second anointing rituals will seem when confronted with the real Jesus as compared to the Mormon God.

  7. This is absolutely horrifying. Adam is forthright and brave and his story is so valuable and needs to be heard. This interview needs a place at the top of the list of your most important interviews. Thank you Adam and John, for bringing this story to us. Shining bright lights on the abuses of this corporation is necessary and appropriate. Adam, you are a hero. Thank you for your bravery and truth.

  8. It took me a couple of weeks to finish this episode listening to pieces of it when I had time. This is by far the longest single episode of any podcast I have ever listened to, and every moment was absolutely riveting. I was devastated and horrified for Adam, hearing him tell so many stories about how Jodi Hildebrandt conspired with everyone in his circle, in particular his ex-wife, to ruin his life and take away his children. Absolutely heartbreaking. This man is a damn hero. I hope justice finally prevails, and I’m glad he has found happiness with a new love.
