Brinley Jensen is a treasure! I was so impressed listening to her story. She is extremely bright and wise beyond her years. I was thinking of myself at 21 and how lucky I would have been to have had her courage. Brava Brinley! Onward and upward as it will only get better from here!
Agreed David! She’s decades ahead of where I was at her age!
Holy crap. Mission companions, never flush your companion’s psychoactive medications down the toilet. As a general rule coming from a non expert, you cannot quit those cold turkey.
Those were medications she had been prescribed but was no longer taking because the mission therapist apparently thought it was a good idea to change what she was on every two weeks. So that’s why she ended up with the “collection” she did.
Ah, I misunderstood. Thanks.
Regarding the story in which an investigator asked to receive a blessing, and asked that sister Jensen do it, and she was berated by the elders afterward:
Of course we know that Joseph Smith is reported to have said this.
“Respecting the female laying on hands, he further remark’d, there could be no devil in it if God gave his sanction by healing— that there could be no more sin in any female laying hands on the sick than in wetting the face with water— that it is no sin for any body to do it that has faith, or if the sick has faith to be heal’d by the administration.”
There was nothing wrong in Sister Jensen praying for this person.
But another issue, in my mind, is that it’s none of the elders’ business who does it. It is not their choice to make to give a blessing. And it’s not sister Jensen’s, either, though she can consent or refuse to participate. It’s the choice of the investigator. He is asking to be blessed. He can decide who he wants to have do it.
Loved listening to Brinley. Full of wisdom…an authentic voice. Perhaps
she might look at counseling/therapist field as she is empathetic/compassionate/insightful and could use her skills to help others.
