The LDS Church History Transparency Quiz – Please Complete and Share | Ep. 1994

A 15 question quiz has been designed to facilitate healthy discussions about factual LDS Church history, and LDS Church historical transparency. It should take less than 5 minutes to complete.

Audience: This quiz is for anyone who has ever been an LDS Church member, including active and inactive LDS Church members, and former LDS. Please take this quiz yourself, and then please invite family, friends, and (most importantly) LDS church leaders and current missionaries to take the quiz as well.

We are hopeful that the survey can serve as a way for you and others to healthily discuss factual LDS Church history, as well as the LDS Church’s overall record of historical transparency. NOTE: All of the historical facts below have been recognized by the LDS church as valid, to the best of our understanding. References have been included for discussion.

We will be awarding a modest number of cash awards to those who complete the survey in its entirety, and who are willing to share compelling insights or experiences – which might include coming on the podcast to discuss their experiences. We are also considering the option of administering this survey as a scientific, random survey. If you are interested in supporting such a project, feel free to donate at the link below.

Enjoy! And please email us with any feedback or experiences you’d like to share.

  1. I HEARD YOU MENTION THAT YOU WERE EXCOMMUNICATED FOR DOING A PODCAST… CAN YOU DIRECT ME TO THE PODCAST OR TELL ME WHY THEY DID THAT OVER A PODCAST? THANK YOU SO MUCH..

  2. I live in Sugarhouse, our entire stake presidency jointly teaches the gospel topic essays to juniors in high school once a month on Sunday afternoons. They’ve been doing this for years, I’ve got my second child going through the teaching now. Some SP may not know about the essays, while other SP are actively teaching them.

For me personally, I consider myself a very active LDS person, and there’s nothing in that quiz that’s remotely new or something that I haven’t already come across in my own personal study. Just putting this comment out there so folks can see that some LDS people are not ignorant of these things, but are active despite all these issues for various reasons. Much love to all on their journeys!

  3. This topic is like 10 yrs old. Gospel Topics on the church website, countless books that are faith and non faith promoting, an overload of podcasts, a simple Google search anyone?
If you don’t know these things as a member in 2025 that naivety is on you.
Attacking “Mormonism” is big money right now but I wish this podcast would get back to its roots of being unique, give people on BOTH sides of the believing fence thoughts that are really challenging, and not just red meat for its loyal followers. It’s become a soup du jour of anti LDS bigotry.
