1. John and Holly (and Jenn) …

   As a longtime Mormon Stories viewer (and contributor), I gotta say Holly’s interview reached me at a depth I did not know was even in me. Her exciting, adventurous exploration of her own humanity that rolled out naturally once she made the courageous decision to “be who she is” (instead of fulfilling the toxic expectations of others, including her own parents) was far beyond inspiring.

   To pick out just one gem from this rich treasure chest … Holly’s musings about who and what “God” and consciousness might be all about was as eloquent as it was beautiful. The reality that we are all way more connected with one another than our physical separation suggests is the message humanity sorely needs to hear and internalize.

   The fact that Mormonism does not have any kind of monopoly on shame-based, toxic mind control was good information for exMormons.

   Kudos to John for gifting his audience with an intimate soul-comingling with Holly’s stunning expression of the Human Condition.

   Well done! I will recommend this MS podcast far and wide.

   1. Two quick things:
      First, as an ex-vangelical myself with a somewhat similar background to Holly’s, I especially appreciated both her story and the exploration of similarities between fundamentalist evangelicalism and mormonism.
      Second, I loved the more organic and intimate feel of these two episodes. It felt like I got to sit in on a deeply meaningful conversation between trusted friends with no agenda, and I don’t know if that is everyone’s cup of tea but for me that’s what makes a podcast episode really awesome and memorable.

2. Indeed, a very interesting discussion to listen in on. It was definitely between John and Holly, an eaves dropping experience that also gave us a chance to know more about John as well as his guest. I’m so glad you just let your thoughts and explorations flow 😉
   But “eloquent”? Perhaps fewer consecutive sentences that start with “Like …, even if language is metaphorical, we don’t need to back into every idea with “Like…this…like that…
   Like like like. It’s a terrible tick and adds tedium to otherwise fine expression. I hung in there, so thanks guys., for a fascinating chat.

3. Great episode! I did want to ask Holly about New Testament Greek. She gave the example: GODISNOWHERE and talked about how Greek is an inflected language. I also read Greek, and I’m not sure how its being inflected makes it any less clear than other languages (e.g., Romance languages). If anything, inflectional endings usually make the grammar and syntax clearer. Do you have any examples from the Greek? I’m not challenging you; I would just like an example or two so I am sure I know what you are saying. Thanks!

4. I know it’s extra work but look into who is financing your news outlet. First piece of advice is ignore cable news. ANY channel ANY political leaning. Find journalists online who work for independent sources or who are brown funded. The propaganda is real and it’s bitpartisan coming from all sides. It’s scary.
