JT & Lady Cee were raised as Jehovah’s Witnesses from the age of five years old. Lady Cee was a regular pioneer and went to serve where the need is great with her pioneer partners. JT served at Brooklyn Bethel and was an elder in the local congregation.
After spending a combined 60 years of Watchtower indoctrination, they discovered that something was seriously wrong with the 1914 teaching. This led them to doing more research and after reading Crisis of Conscience by former Governing Body Member Raymond Franz, they faded from the organization. JT & Lady Cee realize the importance of giving back to help those they left behind. Therefore, in 2013, they began hosting the Critical Thought podcast on the EXJW Critical Thinker YouTube channel. Their decision to join their voice with the community of other Ex-JW activists is resulting in many happy endings as individuals begin waking up and learning the real truth about “The Truth.”

Something amazing about hearing the translation of jargon to JW speak. Also amazing to hear him say so many nearly exact things of mormonism. And the phrase I think Thomas McKonkie said – examine the organization by how they treat those that leave. Blew me away. Amazing to see my own religion through the eyes of another ex fundamental high demand organization.

Whats next – John “bambino” Dehlin ?
This couple is AMAZING. So engaging, funny; insightful…I relate so much and had no idea Mormonism and JW were soooo similar! Blown away and can’t wait for the next one. Mad respect to JT and Lady Cee!
One of the strangest things I learned from this podcast about Jehovah’s Witnesses is that they actually use the term “overseer” in their religion. How in the world can Black members accept this term? I would think that it has way too many negative connotations to tolerate but, no? I won’t even go into the use of “slave”. How very bizarre.
I’ve been following ex-JW voices off and on for years because I find it helpful to contrast that experience with my own in Mormonism. I was happy to see this interview pop up, and I just finished listening to the second part. I’d anticipated that this would be informative, and it was, but it was also surprisingly fun.
Side note, but one of the more interesting things I’ve come across in this area is a couple of rap albums by a group called Reasoning Witchpower. All of their songs are about what it’s like to grow up JW. The albums are free and I recommend them.
Worlds collide! I love it when I see my favorite YouTubers come together. JT and Lady Cee are the best. JT is a wonderful storyteller, while cutting straight to the heart of any issue, and Lady Cee’s interviews (especially with exJW women) are SO powerful.
Loved this interview. JT has an awesome way of making it funny as well as cutting to the heart of the issues. LOVE listening to other experiences of high control groups. Thank you!
Wow, what a great couple to listen to.
They were great.
What ever happened to the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth…..so help me God!!!????
Thanks for the interview. Former JW here. Everything JT and Lady Cee said confirms my own experience in the organization. They were accurate, truthful and fun to listen to. I plan to listen to more of your episodes since while I was never a Mormon, I’m interested in Mormonism. I just have to say I never knew how much Mormonism and the JWs had so much in common. I appreciate the work you do!
I would love to tell my stories of growing up a JW and what I encountered with having a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother in the truth and a father who was not (Can you imagine what my household was like).
My peers I grew up with inside the Truth and my peers outside the Truth.
And how living both sides of the fence influences me today.
How do I get in contact with you?
