In this riveting discussion with John Dehlin and panelists Lauren Mathias @HiddenTrueCrime, Megan Connor, and Mindy Caldwell, we explore the disturbing connections between Thom Harrison’s book “Visions of Glory” and the recent fundamentalist Mormon crime cases, including the Vallow-Daybell tragedy and the Tim Ballard controversy. The panel dissects the influence of Harrison’s teachings on individuals like Lori Vallow and others involved in extreme religious practices, shedding light on the dangerous impact of unverified spiritual claims. They also delve into the concerning associations with psychic mediums, shadow governments, and the spread of radical ideologies within certain Mormon communities, raising critical questions about the role of these beliefs in recent criminal incidents.

I have seen evidence of evil spirits afflicting my brother more than once over the years. It totally freaks me out and I can’t get away from him quickly enough.
When he is in this state he is a danger to himself and to others.
Hello J, have you considered the possibility that this is a mental health issue that can possibly be treated by medication and/or therapy? Has anyone suggested this to your brother?
Really great work on this episode! I kept thinking about the people involved and the outlandish “right-wing” or “conservative” type doctrine they were promoting and then comparing them with those like the September 6 and others who might be considered more “left-wing” or “progressive” in their doctrinal views. Then looking at the way Church has dealt with them both. Where is the “Strengthening Members Committee” when it comes to this folks? Are there Church “spies” at Firm Foundation and LDS Avow gatherings like we know it did and does at Sunstone events and other events like Thrive?. Has anyone from these organizations or other far right fringe groups been subject to Church correction, warnings or discipline? I think you all touched a bit on this topic in the episode and implied that the Church’s lack of action is a possible silent approval of their teachings and activities. Do we have any more on the subject?
Outstanding episode! Crazy that all these people could be connected by one book: Visions of Glory/Thom Harrison. I just read that Angels Studios, wh produced Sound of Freedom, just came out with a film called After Death about near death experiences/visions….could this be connected to Tim Ballard as well?? Anyway, thank you all for a gripping 2 episodes!
