TRIGGER WARNING: Mentions of Sexual Assault, Rape, Child Abuse

In light of the recent Associated Press article about the Mormon church abuse hotline, we decided to ask our podcast listeners if any of them had ever been discouraged by Mormon leadership from reporting abuse to the police. Hundreds of listeners responded with concrete, and heart-wrenching examples. In Friday’s episode, John and Jenn will be reading many of the accounts (scrubbed of identifying information), so as to highlight the longstanding and ongoing problem of abuse cases NOT being reported to police within the Mormon church.

DOCTOR/ Profit RMN’s Nasty daughter Brenda not only abuses kids at neighborhood petting parties, but she and her sister and their MP husbands own Western States Property- Real Estate Holdings, which PRIDES itself on its ROI & ABUSES Vulnerable UT ELDERLY Loved ones AS WELL!! Western States Property owns South Jordan Legacy Retirement where dearly loved Mum stayed for 7 weeks before falling in her own room @ night, breaking her femur & was just tucked into bed by CNAs there. Mum had been walking a Daily Mile w/ a smile w/ me & our dog for months before entering RMN’s SJ LEGACY Retirement Home from HELL! NO ONE CALLED 911!!! NO ONE. Not the CNAS, RN, NP, DO, Nor the Director!! IN house Xrays proved Mum completely broke her femur. Still NO ONE CALLED 911! Mum was given only Xtra Tylenol for a week for her pain. No blood thinners for possible clots thrown by femur break etc. Mum died 3 weeks later. WTH?! GTH RMN family! Enjoy your earned hellish karma.

Stake president’s executive secretary and his wife secretly made several phone calls to my inlaws in Utah. They had access to my membership records and used telephone numbers in my records to make these calls without my knowlege for several months. When I caight them, I wrote a letter to first presidency. First presidency sent the letter back to my bishop without taking any actions to stop the calls. The bishop punished me for sending the letter saying “it was meant well, and you never send letters about any abuse.”
This was just the beginning of further acts of abuse from other families in the ward. It stopped only when I left the church.
