  1. One of best episodes ever. All these women were equally brilliant, amazing, courageous, intelligent!! The time went so fast.

  2. Loved this episode. The four women’s stories were at times painful to hear but also compelling. I imagine many men in the church would be surprised to hear of the challenges their patriarchy creates.

  3. I say this as respectively as I am able. It must be incredibly brave of those ladies to talk about their experiences within the LDS faith. Coming from a Catholic background, I find it appalling, disturbing, and frankly soul killing that a religion could and would so insidiously seek to control women the way the LDS patriarchal organization does. By seeking to so mold women’s entire existence as the patriarchs do, couching their means of control steeped in a ‘religion’ that I feel was totally fabricated from its point of origin (at least the Catholic church had the wherewithal to appropriate ancient established pagan beliefs and deities) is based in fear of women-not love or honor or respect. Despite its origins, I am appalled that LDS women are so subjugated and their lives so structured that they have no real sense of the real world or their real potentials. No wonder so many mission returnees leave the church once they have a taste of and see the real world outside the organized Church.

  4. John, I love your show, listen every week. It has been helpful in my own deconstruction of my 40 years in a non-denominational, charismatic, spirit-filled, high demand, fundamental religion.
I just have one constructive comment for you. Please stop saying “Just really quickly” to your guests and yourself. It is never really quick and that is fine. It must put a pressure on your guests also to hurry through their thoughts. Relax, it’s all good. Thanks

  5. What’s not being addressed so far is that these women (and men also) are UNPAID (free labor) cogs in a multi billion dollar corporation. What an incredible scam.
