Join Margi, John, and Carah for our next episode of Thrive Stories this coming Tuesday at noon (MST). We will hear Dave Biesinger talk about meaning and purpose after a faith transition. Join us to hear Dave’s narrative and how he now feels he is enjoying The Good Life.
Thrive Stories is a new podcast series where Margi (alongside John and Carah) will be interviewing a member of the community twice per month. The interviews will be shorter (1-2 hours), story-based, but will be focused on a particular aspect of healing and growth AFTER a Mormon faith crisis (thus the THRIVE name). They will happen on Tuesdays at noon (MST). Some examples of areas of thriving include: Family Relationships, Healthy Boundaries, Finding Community, Finding Meaning/Purpose, Dealing with Grief/Death, Religion after Mormonism, Health Sexuality, Parenting, Improving Physical Health, Identity, Health Marriage/Relationships, Secular Spirituality, Word of Wisdom 2.0, and Women Finding Their Own Voice after Mormonism.
If you would like to nominate someone you know who would be a great candidate for a THRIVE interview, please nominate them (or yourself) here.

Could you maybe interview someone in their 70’s? As an example, I only have my wife as a good friend after having stopped attendance. We had lots of friends for 40 years. No more. We reside 11 miles from where two wards meet, with 5 TBM’s within a one-mile radius. I have two neighbors in their early 80’s that are somewhat friendly as long as I never ask a question about Church doctrine. Lost family and friends. Still rough though Mormon Stories helps but would sure like to hear how elderly in rural areas are able to transition.

How’s that for starters???
Dave,
I am a close relative to you, (first cousin to your father) although I probably haven’t seen you maybe since your grandmother Audry’s last birthday celebration at the church in the Orem area if you were there. In the picture of you in the youtube frame in this story, you look a lot like your uncle Hugh. You definitely got the facial hair gene :-). I am very happy to see that you have been able to move along in your life, although not sure how your uncles or aunts have taken it. You seem to have a healthy view of your heritage (church and family), while recognizing the parts that you needed to let go.
Right now, I am PIMO, but I am at the age in my life now, however, where I am just able to pretty much live in the LDS construct with zero belief, but do it entirely on my terms and it works well enough for me. Know that you have at least one in the family that appreciates where you are and is happy to see it.
